Story
Hi there!
I’m making a difference and doing a 9-day hike on the Kokoda Track in July 2019 to help turn the tide of diabetes in the South Pacific.
According to World Statistics – The International Diabetes Federation, there were 371 million people with diabetes in 2017. It is estimated that by 2035, there will be 592 million people with diabetes.
• There are already 30 million people with diabetes in the Western Pacific Region
• 1.4 million people with diabetes in the territories of the South Pacific Division
• 1 in 4 Pacific Islanders (adult) is a diabetic
Through ADRA's 10,000 Toes Campaign, three strategies have been identified to help turn the tide:
• Provide diagnostic kits for diabetes detection
• Educate and equip communities to take charge of their health
• Training health professionals to diagnose Type 2 Diabetes early and to better manage the complications
I’d love it if you could support this campaign by making a secure online donation and by posting a message of support. And, great news, donations are tax deductible!! Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to ADRA. My aim is $1000, let’s see if we can exceed this!
